With a very heavy heart and a lot of swallowing, I give this novel the 3 stars it deserves instead of just like,, one or smth, bc FUCK if Agnes isn’t the most annoying character ever??? Seriously I don’t know how much it’s just me but she’s just. So goddamn awful. You ever met someone who thinks they know EVERYTHING better than you and stomp you in the dust w/ their casual air of absolute superiority at every turn? Yeah. Add them having actual authority over you….. AND repeatedly making mistakes while refusing to admit they’re anything more than minor miscalculations [and the fact that she thinks very little of Ianto and isn’t afraid to voice it], and you might understand why I hate her so much :’D
If you think you can stand that, you’re in for a pretty good story with some plottwists that are only semi-forseeable. If not…maybe better stay clear.

This book was a bit of a mixed bag. I really like James Goss’ writing and I thought overall it was very well done. Loved the character of Agnes (well she was annyoing but the character was good anyway) and the slight comedic touch of the story was well done too. And it’s always great to have Rhys involved and I loved every single part of that. I didn’t like so much that the story was kind of split into three different stories. It didn’t make for a smooth reading, page turner kind of story. The first half was really good in my opinion, but bringing out another threat made it drag a bit. Maybe also because it was way over the top. And while I usually LOVE endings like this… for Torchwood it made no sense at all.
