Description

The Hokrala Corp lawyers are back, and they’re suing planet Earth for mishandling the twenty-first century! An assassin has been sent to remove Captain Jack Harkness! And, a record number of aliens have been coming through the Rift — it’s been a busy week in Cardiff. Now, there are reports of an extraordinary funeral cortege in the night time city, with mysterious pallbearers guarding a rotting cadaver that simply doesn’t want to be buried. Torchwood should be ready for anything, but with Jack the target of an invisible killer, Gwen trapped in a forgotten crypt, and Ianto Jones falling desperately ill, could a world of suffering be the Undertaker’s gift to planet Earth?

I’m not saying this story deserves 0 stars…. but it certainly doesn’t deserve more than 1.
Never has Gwen fucked up more, never has Jack loved (+ lusted after) her more, never has Ianto SUFFERED FOR THAT more, never has an ending been more nonsensical. It’s a fucking tire fire, if you’re not a completionist [like me] and refuse to skip anything..SKIP THIS ONE.

Felt out of character at parts.

I’m a bit torn how to review this book. I loved the story, it was a real page turner. From the very beginning on you don’t know what was going on and the ideas kept me excited through the whole book. Sadly the ending felt very rushed and a bit weak. While in general the characters felt very true to themselves, it was annoying that Jack seemed to have more feelings for Gwen than Ianto. Also in the later part of the strory Gwen got all squeamish for no other reason than to move the story along. Which felt very out of place. As so often Jack’s and Ianto’s relationship was handeled very odd. While it’s mentioned they are together and it seems they are fond of each other, there is not even one kiss, even in the face of pretty certain death. It really brought the joy in reading down on more than one occassion.
