I’m not sure if all the different plot lines seeming to converge at the end of this volume make it a crammed confusing story or a well handled complex story. I go back and forth on this depending on the day. All the same, the end made me curious enough to want to pick up the next volume.
However, I’m strongly side-eyeing the authors as, after Exodus Code, one plot device is again a version of “women and their pesky hormones”…
Character-wise, the Ice Maiden crew and the stowaway are charming and fun. As this is an adventure-driven story (not much character exploration here), fun characters with good one-liners is what’s needed.
The art overall supports the story strongly and is definitely much better than some from the short comics of the old Torchwood Magazines.

If you want to read this you better read Exodus Code first – which is worth it anyway! The story of World Without End jumps around a lot, so sometimes it’s a bit hard to follow, but I think if you concentrate it works well. The story is intriguing and I just love the Ice Maiden. Actually more than I did in Exodus code. I’m just a bit confused – since when is the vortex manipulator working this properly again? It shouldn’t… but I think I can live with that.
The drawings are fine, you always know who is who. And I love the little quips and easter eggs throughout. I think it’s very easy to see that Carole and John had a lot of fun creating this story.
