Description
Josephine Jones has come back to Llanfairfach and she finds it a bustling place with a thriving economy. The little town is now at the spearhead of a healthy-eating revolution. And yet, something’s missing. It feels like the heart has gone out of the place.
She falls in with a dashing stranger and realises that although the past was a lot simpler, not everything’s changed. There’s still something nasty in the mine, and it’s been waiting for Jo for a very long time.

This is probably very fun for fans of Classic Who! Personally, this was the first I’d heard of Jo Grant, so it didn’t mean much, but it was still an enjoyable story with a nice dynamic between the characters. If you aren’t interested in Jo Grant and would like a Jack adventure, I wouldn’t recommend this one.

I wasn’t really captivated by the plot. My attention wasn’t grabbed by suspense or amazing character moments.
Still, it was a fun adventure and the actors were great. You can feel how well they know their characters.
The dynamics between the characters was very well written and the actors had a really good chemistry.
I really wish I had been more interested in the story.

This one is structured a bit strangely. It starts in media res with Jo and Jack already wading through a situation.
Jo is one of my favorite classic companions. However, due to the structure it takes a while for the story to get around to explaining what she and Jack and doing, and why they’ve come together. I think the audio would have benefited from a slightly more conventional structure in this case.
That said, there’s some really some nice character work, as well as continuity call backs to Who. Without giving too much away, one of the strongest points taps into Jack’s Unresolved Doctor Issues. Jo’s hippie sensibilities are out at a sharp contrast to Jack’s utilitarianism, and the narrative has a lot of fun pitting their philosophical differences against each other.
Even though I’m only giving it three stars, I would like to see other audios like this. Jack and other companions, or Jack and Jo again.
