Description
Ianto Jones is Torchwood. Ianto Jones is the defender of a deserted city, a lone crusader who keeps the empty streets safe.

I would give the audio 4 stars for the journey but 3 stars for the destination. This is a suspenseful story that has you wondering what’s going on throughout but gives you enough clues to figure it out.
I’m just not a big fan of the resolution, which left me wondering if a character is not likeable or if the ending is cheap writing.
Still, I love that we get to see how Ianto is very practical when left to solve a case on his own but is still feeling in over his head. That man suffers from impostor syndrome big time.
All this to to say, I had a great time listening to it. There were some good insights into Ianto’s character but some of the plot resolution felt a bit meh to me. Really, it’s just the 5 minutes of denouement that spoiled it a bit for me.

I really, really wanted to love this one, especially considering all the hype the cover created when it first debuted. Sadly, I only like it, and that too in the way that one likes all Big Finish audios. (Genuinely, I have yet to find one that I have actually disliked.) It was an interesting debut for the writer entering the Torchwood EU, but I have to agree with the previous commentor, the last five minutes really killed it for me. It was an interesting story, and there felt like there was real potential in certain aspects plot-wise, but the lack of actual anything happening – at least, that’s what it felt like to me – kinda killed my excitement. Plus, we didn’t even get to hear Ianto wear the greatcoat, if he was wearing it at all.

Do you want to see Ianto do some cool things? This audio provides! Do you want a fully satisfying ending? …maybe check out something else.
That said, this was still an interesting story and I have no regrets about buying it or listening to it. It gave a nice look at Ianto and a pretty enjoyable side character. I just felt that it could do more and go farther.

I absolutely adored the concept of this story! I can’t say much else about it because I don’t want to spoil it but it’s a super interesting concept and this story really pulled it off! Also I loved the character Abby and her dynamic with Ianto.
