Description
Torchwood pick up the pieces and move on. After all, there’s a whole new set of alien threats to deal with. But when a God comes to Cardiff, the world goes to Hell…
Hostile Environment
An app’s been launched that allows you to tag the homeless. People thinks they’re doing a good thing and helping out. It does seem a remarkable success. After all, since it’s launched, there are a lot less homeless people on the streets – so it must be doing some good, mustn’t it?

I get what they were trying to do with this audio and I appreciate it. How homelessness is perceived is a big problem: the invisibility, the assurance that this only happens to others, etc.
However, once again in this new series of Torchwood, I feel that the competence of the characters is toned down for plot reasons. How else can you explain how they’re acting stupider (Andy), more unobservant (Ng) or meaner (Mr Colchester) than I feel they should?
And that is not touching on a flaw that is unfortunately more widespread in the Torchwood universe: their inability to deal with the consequences of dubious or non-consensual sex. If this is something you don’t want to deal with, stop putting it in your stories!
The one positive point is that I’m really liking Jack in this box-set! I like his characterisation in God Among Us far better than in Aliens Among us! Between last episode and this episode, we get Jack caring for his people and being there for them once again. And it feels good.
