The Last Beacon is in my top 3 favorite BF stories and is probably the one I’ve relistened to the most times! Gareth David-Lloyd has provided us with what’s likely the most lighthearted torchwood story there ever has been and ever will be with this one. Ianto and Owen’s chemistry is hilarious while still having some very touching moments. I honestly can’t recommend this enough. Also, be sure to listen to the interview at the end. It’s ridiculously silly and very nice to hear how well Gareth and Burn get along.

What a gem! This light (for Torchwood) story is a funny, touching character exploration.
The dynamics and the chemistry between the two characters are fantastic and served by snappy dialogue and hilarious lines and situations.
The character portrayal is spot-on thanks to the script and the performances and it’s nice to see Owen in something lighter (yet still being his grumpy self) as he tends to be featured in the darker audio episodes.
The plot itself is tight and self-contained and, more than anything, a love letter to Wales and the Welsh people.

This is a heartwarming comedy, which makes a lovely change from the darker Big Finish content; Owen and Ianto’s relationship progresses in a believable way with some of Torchwood’s funniest dialogue right from the start. Every interaction is in-character whilst still building an unlikely friendship in amongst an interesting plot. It uses every opportunity the original show missed to write the characters to their full potential, and creates a brilliant comedic duo. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
[Doesn’t have any connection to the overarching plot so can be listened to separately].

It’s honestly brilliant. Gareth includes lists of subtle details and reactions to things that really give an insight into Owen and Ianto’s relationship. There’s nothing too depressing in this audio and the chemistry of Gareth and Burn is electric. Very, very funny.

Beautiful, stunning, incredible, wonderful…
GDL and Burn give amazing performances, and the story is so good. There’s a lot of friendship and laughs, but there’s also a really nice emotional payoff at the end (though maybe Owen wouldn’t want me to say that!). This is my absolute favorite BF audio, and as such, I think it’s an absolute must-have!

Brilliant.
One of the few I have listened to way too many times. Or perhaps not enough times. Same difference, with this audio. Can’t get tired of it. GDL wrote it perfectly.
(Side note: he’s done Ianto & Owen and Ianto & Tosh now. Ianto & Gwen next? Please?)

One of my absolute favourites!!! The dynamic between Owen and Ianto is used to its full potential here. It’s hilarious and well written!

This was the first story I bought and it’s still one of my favorites!
The writing and the acting are so good! I love how the relationship between Owen and Ianto is really deepened in this story. It’s light and fun!
I loved all the details about the area and it was so interesting and really telling of their characters to see how Ianto and Owen’s reactions and attitudes to the same things were so different.
((As a bonus, this also inspired me to travel outside of Cardiff during my trip to Wales. I ended up staying in a town next to Hengoed and spending time hiking in the Brecon Beacons!))

This one is probably my fave of the audio dramas that I’ve listened to! We get to see (or more like hear) Owen’s and Ianto’s friendship develop and it’s funny and the dynamic fits them really well. Would love to hear more stories like this!

This was lovely! I was really looking forward to this one since Gareth David-Lloyd wrote the story himself and it is as great as I hoped it would be. The story lives and breathes through the interaction of the characters and it’s such a joy to listen to Ianto and Owen on their adventures in the Welsh countryside. And thank god it’s not as gruesome as “Countrycide”, mind you. I’m not really a fan of Owen most of the time, but I appreciate his presence and talent to rile everyone up – and then WHEN you get the softer side of him, it’s just awesome. The characters are spot on I think it’s great when the actors really get the characters. Gareth totally does! Highly recommended.

One of the best audios!! GDL really needs to write more for big finish. Ianto and Owen together in this have such a great dynamic and there are lots of funny moments as well some soft moments between them. I loved seeing their friendship develop throughout the audio!!
