My favourite part of this audio is the intro. This is a great conversation between Yvonne and Jack and it’s good to see a combative Jack in Aliens Among Us.

However, this new box set starts out with the same flaw that’s been bothering me in the previous ones. There are moments when the characters seem to lose all competency they have demonstrated in the past to advance or fit the plot.

Everyone is frantic. Jack is panicky. He pushes Orr outside of their comfort zone when he was the one to truly accept them and push them to be themselves before.

The others defer to Yvonne far too quickly in my opinion. And I’m not just talking about siding with Jack or Yvonne. When it comes to the current crisis, why would they ask Yvonne what to do next when they’ve been shown handling things without Jack in the previous episodes? They shouldn’t need Yvonne to tell them to check the CCTV…

I mean I love power plays and I love plotty Yvonne so I had a good time listening to it but there were moments that were frustrating because you shouldn’t have to dumb down the other characters to prop Yvonne up.

I very much enjoy this story and how it sets up the future of the team, however I do have some issues with this story, specifically Jack pushing Orr to do things they don’t want to.
