I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars but some very specific lines and the delivery of the actors made me go for 4 out of 5.

I found the plot less interesting than in other stories but the writing is great nonetheless. There are really good lines of dialogue and great narrative choices. I really appreciated the parallel between the beginning and the end. The book-endings of the story really reflect the change that occurred because of the story. And that’s what stories are all about in the end.

Major Kreg’s actor (Dan Starkey) is amazing! The way he sometimes puts so much acting in just one word (“bed”) is absolutely delightful.

I definitely had a great time listening to it even though the plot didn’t fascinate me.

I have to day I really, really disliked thie audio. Defintely my least favorite featuring Ianto. Maybe the constant war speak wore me down, but the thing that annoyed me most was the inconsistency of Ianto as a character. For one they got his family relations wrong – it sounded like he has two nephews? And when he talked about how he would like his relationship with them, it was exactly the opposite what what he did in CoE, it is more whawt Rhi actually wanted from him in CoE. It doesn’t fit at all for me.
Also his character was not how I see him. I understand he had to educate the alien about human behaviour and that he has to adapt to blend in… but some of the things he teached… I hated him for that. No one should ever compromise like that. So I will surely not listen to this one again.
