I love this audio so much!

It started as a surprise with Michael Palin playing Michael Palin. And what a performance! So many different tones and emotions and he nailed it!

The writing from Tim Foley is so good: the atmosphere, the way the story is told, how it starts actually really relaxing and gets creepier and creepier.

The sound editing is brilliant as well: background noises, voice effects, sound effects, it really pulls you in.

Thanks to all these, I could have listened to hours of hours of this. I would like for this to become a recurring antagonist, one every batch of monthly audios would be so fun! 😉

When they announced it, I was afraid it would be like the stories they’ve made before that ended up being caricatures of Torchwood (for example The Man Who Destroyed Torchwood). But it’s not, it remains within the “real world’ and actually gives nice character insights and slices of Torchwood’s everyday life.

    It’s funny, it’s creepy, it’s emotional, it’s suspenseful, it’s different: I love it!

Four stars for a genuinely unique and intriguing story that kept me on my toes and just begs to be theorized the hell out of. But not five bc FUCK THIS CREEPED THE SHIT OUT OF ME!!!!!!!!!

  3. Louise

(Would give it 3.5 stars but I cannot.)
If you think negatively about yourself and do not wish to be told that you’re not a great person whilst under the guise of a meditation guide… maybe wait until you have a better outlook on your life.
Funny lines in this one, though.

Different approach to an audio dramas but still very much enjoyable! The narration leads you through the story (and low key off topic but I love the narrator’s voice and the sound editing in the back ground) and you get to see small bits of Torchwood daily life in a immersive (and also creepy) story.

  5. Atticus

I adore this audio drama. It’s unlike anything I’ve heard heard before; incredibly weird and disconcerting, but also comic, suspenseful, and with meaningful emotional beats. Sir Michael Palin’s narration is fantastic, and even though they’re not voice acting, you feel like the entire Torchwood team is present in the story. The sound design is especially good this release too. Though it’s not necessary, I think you’ll get the most out of the story by listening to it alone and through headphones.
